Kunming - Xishuangbanna - Kunming - Lijiang - Kunming
Rachel . Melissa . Desmond
Last day at Kunming...spent the night at an apartment that belongs to David - church friend of Mel, which doubles up as a classroom for teaching English. Thank God for His provision of David's hospitality...especially when our pockets were near empty towards the end of the trip - not a cent less, not a cent more. He always knows best. :)
At a Tibetan-esque temple on the way to Tiger Leaping Gorge...
Mel & me with the beautiful beautiful mountains...
At Tiger Leaping Gorge... which has a 3,900m drop in elevation from the mountaintop to the riverbed - the deepest valley in the world!
Lunchbreak
One of the many lovely snapshots of God's creation that we were treated to...*wowowow*
Strawberry season!! One basketful of juicy super-sweet strawberries for only 5 yuan (or about S$1!)...
Fields of flowers...
Horseriding at the foot of Snow Mountain where Des' horse got cranky, gallopped away and almost flung him off!! We all had a minor heart attack there... So much for adventure. :p
With our friendly horse-riding guides...
♫ We're on the top of the world... looking down on creation ♪
Under the cherry blossom tree..!
Pretty much postcard perfect..! :)
The very beautiful 'old city' which we stayed in... felt like the perfect setting for a gungfu movie or a 武侠小说! Now we know why SO many people were telling us that Lijiang was not to be missed when in Yunnan... :)
Some older womenfolk hanging out at the city square from the Naxi tribe, which is apparently matriarchal in culture..!
We came here twice in the 3 days that we were in Lijiang for their generous, delicious Sze Chuan beef and wanton handmade noodles...
All for just 4 yuan which amounted to less than S$1..!!
Dinner with houseparents of some of the orphanages in Lijiang before following Suh Ching back for Des to see one of the boys with a giant-cell tumor in his shoulder...
Typical Lijiang breakfast...
Naan look-alike
And noodles as always of course...
Some ladies in tai-chi action one early morning...
One of the main parks in Kunming with big lakes and wide open spaces...
Just relaxing the day away in a beautiful park...
Sorting out...
Neoprints!! :)
Later that evening, dinner was with Dr Lai Yong, Lay Chin, Amber & Edward, and Loh Cheng, Yenteng & Xuan En at The Wicker Basket which serves one mean milkshake! :p
City lights on the way home...
Getting ready for bed and keeping warm under the covers on our last night in the apartment!
The next morning at the "Bless China International" office after Wednesday morning prayer meeting...
Throwing together an instant pasta lunch before we set off for yet another 9hr looong bus ride to Lijiang...
Yummilicious cheese macaroni!
